Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil, born July 12, 1988[1], is a Canadian singer/actress from Canada. O'Neil, the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's 3rd season was awarded the title in 2005. O'Neil is best known as an actress for her role in the series Syfy as Two or Rebeccaas Two / Rebecca / Portia Lin and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama series The Rookie. She was selected in the bottom three and two of the finals. The judges were shocked by this and encouraged viewers to vote for Melissa for her voice talents. O'Neil's performances were always praised and O'Neil did not fall back to the bottom 3. Zack Werner, the judge, declared O'Neil "a contender to win the whole thing". On September 7, 2005, O'Neil made it to the final two spots of the competition, along with Goudie. After another stunning performance, judge Werner famously announced that the headlines in the next day's newspaper would read "The King, Kalan Porter has died and long live the Queen." O'Neil defeated Goudie at the grand final results show on September 14th, 2005 to be crowned Canada's third Idol.
