Belknap is a native of Damariscotta in Maine. Her parents were David and Louise Belknap. She went to Lincoln Academy in Newcastle Maine. It was her passion to act during her time in Middlebury College Vermont. She then studied at the American Conservatory Theater earning a Master of Fine Arts degree.
